| This alloy-bodied XJ looks like a Jaguar should, drives like one, and oozes grace and class. Roomy and refined, yet still sporty. And it's loaded with safety and luxury features. |

| It may continue the visual tradition of every XJ before it, but this generation is the biggest and best. The beautiful aluminium bodywork saves weight, giving improved economy and performance. Whether you pick the 3.0 V6 or 4.2 V8, you'll get to 60 mph in under 8 seconds, exceed 145mph and manage 27mpg. If that's not enough, then the 4.2 V8 and the supercharged XJR deliver mind-boggling performance. Every car in the XJ range delivers a smooth ride and high levels of comfort to temper the sporty handling. Despite some reservations, the air suspension system works well. There are many electronic aids to improve the way the car drives, but they never interfere with its essential character. Inside, the traditional wood and leather is finished to a high standard. The cabin is enhanced by much more generous amount of rear head- and legroom than previously. A truly luxurious sports saloon. |
